If the way to the sea is too far – then it is time to bring the waves back home. This is the self-explanatory goal of blackforestwave, an association whose love of water sports and the Black Forest is already expressed in its name.
As a non-profit association, blackforestwave has been passionately committed to promoting water sports in rivers and lakes in the Pforzheim and Karlsruhe area since January 2017. The foundation stone for the association was already laid in 2014. At that time, Steffen Rose, initiator of today’s association, together with his fellow student Clemens Breckle, investigated the suitability of Pforzheim’s waters for water sports activities as part of a study project. Inspired and motivated by the positive results of the study, the vision arose to integrate the rivers of Pforzheim more strongly into city life in the long term. In cooperation with Vivien Straka, the vision developed into a concrete project: Riversurfing in the Black Forest – a surfable river wave in Pforzheim.
Since 2017, more than 50 members have been working on the realization of the “blackforestwave” river wave. The aim is a natural integration of the wave into the rivers of Pforzheim, without additional energy requirements. The team is currently working at full speed to implement the standing wave by autumn 2018/spring 2019.
In order not to get bored with water sports enthusiasts from the region until then, the association organises various SUP events in the Pforzheim and Karlsruhe area with the support of RESTUBE as safety partner and sponsor during the summer months.
